I discovered a new band this week while listening to my favorite radio show, Dead Air. That band is called The Drive By Truckers. They mix a southern rock sound with very intelligent and gritty lyrics. Go check out some of there music over at the Live Music Archive
It amazes me at the virtuosity of some of today's bands. They are masters of their realms, yet you never hear them on commercial radio. I guess virtuosity and commercial viability don't mix very well. That's why there is so much garbage filling our airwaves today. It's a shame when the only radio station you can stand to listen to plays songs that are 30 to 40 years old. And it's an independant station. Thank god for 88.7 wncw and 95.7 wxrc. Without them, I would be a brainwashed mindless lemming.
Well, sometime over the last few weeks, this ol' blog has topped 300 hits. Pat yourself on the back. Ow, not that hard.
A special thanks to all the people who use yahoo to search for obscure things like "1979 CJ5 Golden Eagle", or "Brokedown Palace Torrent", or "Final Fantasy Hacks". It's valued contributors like these that keep me posting on here. Thanks again!
Actually, I'm feeling pretty uninspired today. And I don't usually post when i feel like that. So here is a rare exception. So enjoy it while you can!! Here are some cool links for the BDP faithful:
Umphrey's Mcgee: This is a cool "jamband". But they don't really lump nicely into any category. They are most reminiscent of Phish, but that doesn't really do them justice. So head over to the Live Music Arhive and download a show, you won't regret it. BTW, 02/07/2004 is a great place to start.
Gwangi's Radio Review: A daily offering of great Old Time Radio shows. Plus some interesting insight into the shows.
Missouri Alternatives Center: Great resource for alternative agriculture such as pastured poultry and customer supported agriculture.
